Emerging-markets threat brief: priority exposures this quarter

Across Africa, the Gulf, and comparable markets, digital programmes are outpacing the security controls that should underpin them. New platforms go live. Supplier chains widen. Identity systems scale. Detection, response, and governance often lag.

Threat actors exploit that gap. Common entry paths include weak remote access, poorly governed cloud estates, untested incident plans, and operating teams that have never rehearsed a major breach.

The useful response is sequencing, not panic. Leadership needs a current view of what is changing, which exposures deserve attention now, and what can wait until the fundamentals are in place. Organisations that hold under pressure usually chose a small set of hard priorities (maturity baseline, identity and remote-access hygiene, monitoring with defined escalation, and a rehearsed IR path) and executed them.
